The Angel Bakery and Shop
The Angel Bakery and Shop, Abergavenny
Sourdough, Pastries and Good Things to Take Home
The Angel Bakery brings proper artisan baking to the heart of Abergavenny, with long-fermented sourdough, pastries and seasonal treats made in its own bakery just off Cross Street.
Bread is at the heart of what they do. The sourdough is naturally leavened and slowly fermented to develop flavour and texture, while the pastry counter changes with the seasons and gives plenty of reason to call in whether you are picking up breakfast, something for a walk or a treat for later.
Across the road, the Larder Shop brings the bakery together with carefully chosen food and drink. Alongside the breads and pastries you will find fresh fruit and vegetables, meats, cheeses, store-cupboard ingredients, wines, ciders, beers and spirits, as well as seasonal sandwiches, coffee and a small seating area for anyone who would rather stay for a while.
That makes The Angel Bakery particularly easy to weave into a day in Abergavenny. Pick up a loaf for later, build a picnic before heading towards the Black Mountains, or simply stop for coffee and something freshly baked while exploring the town.
The bakery has grown from a small team into an established part of Abergavenny’s food scene, while still keeping the craft of baking at the centre of the business. Its breads and pastries are also supplied to cafés, restaurants and other businesses across South East Wales and beyond.
For visitors who like to discover a place through its food, The Angel Bakery offers something simple but memorable: bread made slowly, pastries made properly and a shop full of good things chosen with care.
