Welcome to Tara Bed and Breakfast
Home-Cooked Hospitality at the Foot of the Black Mountains
Tara Bed and Breakfast is a small, welcoming B&B in the village of Felindre, between Hay-on-Wye and Talgarth, with the Black Mountains rising nearby and Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) within easy reach.
Run by Dorcas and David, Tara offers three en-suite guest rooms sleeping six in total, giving the stay a relaxed and personal feel. There are two double rooms and a twin, along with a spacious dining room and conservatory where guests can settle in and enjoy views across the surrounding countryside.
Food is one of the things that gives Tara its character. Dorcas is a Cordon Bleu cook, and breakfast is very much part of the experience, with local produce and seasonal ingredients from the garden used whenever possible. Evening meals can also be arranged, making it particularly appealing after a full day outdoors when going back out for dinner is the last thing you feel like doing.
Outside, the two-acre garden provides plenty of space to slow down and enjoy the Wye Valley setting. Tara is especially well placed for active stays too: National Cycle Route 8 passes nearby, cycle storage is available, and walking, horse riding and canoeing opportunities are all close at hand.
The location makes it easy to combine countryside with the character of nearby towns. Spend a day browsing the bookshops and markets of Hay-on-Wye, explore Talgarth and the Black Mountains, or simply head out from Felindre and let the landscape shape the day.
For visitors who value a small B&B where the welcome, food and local knowledge matter as much as the room itself, Tara offers an unhurried base for discovering this quieter corner of the Black Mountains.
Pets cannot be accommodated, and the swimming pool at the property is not available for guests’ use.
