Welcome to Borderlands Outdoor

Outdoor activities in South Wales and the Forest of Dean

Borderlands Outdoor offers instructed adventures across South Wales, the Wye Valley and the Forest of Dean, including caving and navigation courses in Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park. Families, friends, schools and workplace groups can choose an activity to suit their interests and experience.

Their experiences include:

Rock climbing and abseiling – Try outdoor climbing or abseiling with an instructor, with the session tailored to your group.

Caving – Explore underground passages in South Wales with a qualified cave leader. Protective oversuits, helmets, headlamps, kneepads and caving belts are provided.

Bushcraft – Learn practical outdoor skills, including shelter building and fire lighting.

Archery – Join a session at the Monmouth site or ask about bringing an archery session to your own venue. The regular sessions welcome adults and children aged six and over.

Navigation training – Develop map-reading skills on courses ranging from beginner to advanced, in the Forest of Dean, Monmouthshire and Bannau Brycheiniog.

The provider lists an Adventure Activities Licensing Authority licence for its caving activities. Discuss the activity, group ages and any access or additional support needs with the team before booking; requirements vary between sessions.

Activities use different venues, so check the meeting point, clothing requirements and current availability for your chosen session. Some navigation courses involve long days and steep climbs.

Selected open sessions can be booked online. For a private group, a school visit or a tailored programme, contact the team to discuss what you have in mind.
