Welcome to Gwernyfed Walled Garden and Café

A garden-to-plate café in a Grade II-listed Victorian glasshouse

Gwernyfed Walled Garden and Café in Three Cocks brings together a Grade II-listed Victorian glasshouse and a tranquil, hand-tended kitchen garden, within easy reach of the eastern side of Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park.

Over more than 15 years, Joel and Charlane have transformed what was once a school football pitch and derelict glasshouse into a productive garden filled with vegetables, fruit, flowers, bees and free-ranging Indian Runner ducks.

Seasonal light lunches make use of vegetables grown in the garden, alongside freshly made cakes, tea and freshly ground coffee. Take a seat inside the glasshouse or choose a table in the garden and see what is growing around you.

Part of the pleasure is in the details: mismatched china, ducks wandering between the beds and a garden that changes throughout the seasons. The garden is wheelchair accessible and dogs are welcome on leads.

Set between Talgarth and Hay-on-Wye, with the Black Mountains close by, Gwernyfed makes a worthwhile stop while exploring this part of the National Park. Come for lunch, coffee and cake, then leave time to walk around the garden.

The garden and glasshouse can also host weddings. Contact Gwernyfed directly to discuss plans and current availability.
