Welcome to Hay Markets

Hay Markets brings independent food producers, makers and traders to the centre of Hay-on-Wye. The main street market takes place on Thursdays throughout the year, continuing a market tradition that stretches back more than 700 years.

Browse seasonal fruit and vegetables, artisan bread, fresh fish, local meat and cheese, hot food and locally roasted coffee. Makers, vintage traders and other independent stalls offer jewellery, gifts, plants, clothing and finds for the home. The mix changes from week to week.

Start at Memorial Square below Hay Castle, then explore the Butter Market, Cheese Market and Clock Tower area, all a short walk apart. Seasonal monthly Saturday markets also use the Castle Honesty Bookshop area for vintage and flea stalls.

Saturday markets run on the first Saturday of the month during the advertised season. There are also special festive markets, including the Winter Weekend Market and Hay Christmas Fayre. Check the official Market Days page for current dates, opening times and updates before travelling.

The main Oxford Road car park is around a five-minute walk from Memorial Square. Combine a market visit with Hay’s bookshops, cafés and independent shops. For general enquiries contact Hay Markets; prospective stallholders should use its Trade with Us page.
