Basel Cottage
Basel Cottage sleeps four in two bedrooms on 17 acres near Llandovery, in the Cambrian Mountains on the edge of Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park. Up to two dogs are welcome and should remain downstairs; ask Sue and Jonah about any additional dogs before booking.
Both bedrooms are upstairs: one has a super-king bed and an en-suite shower room, while the second can be arranged as a twin or super-king. There is also a family bathroom with a bath and shower. Downstairs, the kitchen/diner has a dishwasher, the lounge has a wood-burning stove, and a utility room provides a washing machine and drying space.
Outside, guests have an enclosed garden, a decked terrace overlooking the valley and Afon Bran, and a stone terrace with a firepit. There is private woodland to explore and access to the river. The games room has table tennis, pool, table football and darts, and there is a four-hole pitch-and-putt course. Beginners’ archery and target air-rifle lessons with Jonah can be booked separately; seasonal croquet is subject to availability.
Wi-Fi, off-road parking and a lockable shed are available, along with an EV charging point—check current charging arrangements with the owners. A cot and high chair can be provided, and guests can borrow a telescope to make the most of clear, dark nights.
Basel Cottage won Gold for Best Dog Friendly Business and was Highly Commended for Best Self Catering at the Carmarthenshire Tourism Awards 2024. It also received the Best Dog Friendly Holiday Cottage Accommodation – Wales award in 2021.
