Welcome to The Bear Hotel – Bar and Restaurant

The Bear Hotel’s bar and restaurant are on Crickhowell’s High Street in Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park. This family-run former coaching inn has welcomed travellers for more than five hundred years and remains a place for local people and visitors to meet over a meal or a drink.

The kitchen serves modern British comfort food, pub favourites and dishes with international influences. It uses Welsh and local produce where possible, including suppliers in and around Crickhowell. Current menus, afternoon food and Sunday lunch options are available on the owner’s website; dishes and service arrangements can change.

The historic bar has oak beams, wooden floors and open fires, with local and regional ales, cider, wines, spirits and soft drinks. Well-behaved dogs are welcome in the bar, and the garden offers an outdoor place for a drink when the weather allows.

Call the team to book a table and check which dining area is serving at your preferred time. A children’s menu is available, and under-eighteens must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Discuss dietary requirements, dogs and any access needs before visiting. If you would like to stay overnight, the hotel also has thirty-five individually furnished rooms; room reservations are separate from table bookings.
