Old Railway Line Garden Centre
Plants, Local Food and a Railway Story in the Wye Valley
Old Railway Line Garden Centre is an independent, family-run garden centre, farm shop and restaurant at Three Cocks, between Brecon and Hay-on-Wye, with the Black Mountains rising beyond the Wye Valley.
The setting is part of the story. The garden centre occupies the site of the former railway junction at Three Cocks, and over the years the family business has grown into far more than somewhere to pick up plants. Today it brings together gardening, food, gifts, homeware and places to eat, making it an easy stop to build into a day exploring this part of Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons).
Gardeners will find a wide range of plants and outdoor-living products, with experienced staff on hand for practical advice and inspiration. Inside, the farm shop champions Welsh and local produce, including bread, meat, deli products, drinks and treats that make useful additions to a picnic or something to take home.
Food is a big part of the experience too. The Railway Restaurant and Tea Room offer everything from coffee and cake to freshly prepared lunches, giving visitors plenty of reason to stay longer than originally planned.
Its position between Hay-on-Wye and Brecon also makes the Old Railway Line a useful stopping point while exploring the eastern side of the National Park, whether you are heading for the Black Mountains, browsing bookshops or simply looking for somewhere relaxed to eat and shop.
For visitors who enjoy discovering independent Welsh businesses with a strong local identity, the Old Railway Line combines gardens, food and a little railway history in one distinctive stop.
