Outdoor activities at Parkwood Outdoors Dolygaer
Parkwood Outdoors Dolygaer is an activity centre beside Pontsticill Reservoir, near Merthyr Tydfil in Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park. Families, friends, schools and workplace groups can book activities for the day without staying overnight, or arrange a residential visit.
Squirrel Run and zip wire: Climb and scramble through tree-based challenges with support from your team. The centre lists Squirrel Run as an add-on that can be combined with the zip wire; call to discuss availability.
Crate stacking: Work together to build and climb a stack of crates, testing balance and teamwork.
Caving: Join an instructed session exploring underground passages and rock formations.
Gorge adventures: Follow the river through a gorge with an instructor, scrambling and moving through the water.
Hill and mountain walking: Arrange a guided outing in the surrounding hills and mountains.
Stand-up paddleboarding: Learn to balance and paddle on the water with an instructor.
Bushcraft: Learn practical outdoor skills such as shelter building; the activities offered depend on current conditions and site rules.
Kayaking, canoeing and raft building: Choose an instructed paddling session or work as a team to build and test a raft. Dragon boating is also listed as a group add-on.
Archery, rock climbing and abseiling: Practise target skills or take on a climbing challenge with qualified instruction.

The centre’s FAQ sets a minimum age of eight for instructed activities. Check the age limits, equipment, clothing and any other requirements for your chosen session, and discuss access or additional support needs before booking.
Accommodation options
Dolygaer Lodge sleeps up to 44 for larger groups; the whole chalet sleeps up to 26, and Dolygaer Cottage sleeps up to eight. Individual chalet rooms and an apartment are also available.
Camping, campervan pitches and glamping pods provide other ways to stay on site. Facilities and dog policies vary by option, and accommodation is booked separately from activities unless your package states otherwise.
