Horse riding experiences beside Llangorse Lake
Situated on the edge of Llangorse Lake, between the rugged Black Mountains and Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park, Ellesmere Riding Centre is a long-established, family-run riding centre offering exceptional horse-riding experiences for all abilities.
With a carefully managed herd of well-schooled horses and ponies, Ellesmere is known for matching riders thoughtfully to their mount and tailoring each experience to confidence and experience. Beginners, families and returning riders can enjoy relaxed pony trekking through open countryside, while more experienced riders have the opportunity to explore further afield on faster-paced hacks and longer rides with expansive views across the lake, moorland and mountains.
For accomplished riders, Ellesmere Riding Centre also offers immersive trail riding experiences in the remote Black Mountains. These multi-day rides travel through high ridges, wooded valleys and open moorland, staying overnight in carefully chosen local accommodation and offering a rare, deeply rewarding way to experience this quieter side of Wales on horseback.
With over five decades of experience, knowledgeable guides and a strong emphasis on care, safety and quality, Ellesmere Riding Centre offers riding that feels authentic, unhurried and closely connected to the landscape. Whether you’re taking your first steps into riding or looking for a memorable long-distance adventure, it’s a standout experience beside Llangorse Lake.
