Welcome to Shire Horses, Victorian Farm and Iron Age Village at Dan-yr-Ogof
Horses, farm animals and two very different views of the past
The lower part of Dan-yr-Ogof brings the Shire Horse Centre, Mr Morgan’s Victorian Farm and the Iron Age Village together in one part of the day.
Meet the Shire horses and learn how these powerful working animals supported farming, industry and transport. Nearby, the farm is home to goats, Shetland ponies, alpacas and llamas.
Mr Morgan’s Victorian Farm uses characters and scenes to show how a farming family lived and worked. Look out for Megan at the farm shop, Dai the Blacksmith, Twm the sheepdog and Mr Morgan himself. The covered playgrounds are in the large barn behind the duck ponds.
At the reconstructed Iron Age Village, see buildings made from timber, straw, bracken and turf. Discover how grain was stored in reed-lined pits, why animals were kept close to the settlement and how barley was brewed into beer.
These attractions are part of Dan-yr-Ogof, National Showcaves Centre for Wales, and are included in the main admission ticket. Check the official website for current opening dates and visitor information before travelling.
