Welcome to Trans Wales Trails

Trans Wales Trails brings together horse riding days, longer trail holidays and farm-based stays at Blaenau Bach near Talgarth. Rides explore the Black Mountains and other parts of Wales on the farm’s Welsh cobs. Choose a pub or picnic day ride, a weekend or midweek break returning to the farm, or a longer trail staying at inns with luggage transferred between overnight stops.

These rides are for confident, competent riders who can canter over uneven ground on forward-going horses, not for complete beginners. Day rides specify a minimum age of 12 and a weight limit of under 13 stone. Check the experience, age, weight and fitness requirements for your chosen ride with Emily before booking.

Blaenau, the traditional Welsh longhouse beside the stream, welcomes riding-holiday guests. Its guest annexe has four en-suite rooms, with beds arranged as twins or super-king doubles. Farm-based holidays include home-cooked meals, with breakfast and dinner in the garden room; vegetarian, vegan and other dietary requirements can be discussed in advance. Confirm the rooms and meals included in your particular break.

Guests staying at the farm have a shared lounge with a wood-burning stove, books and films, and walks nearby. Use the two pages here to explore the riding and accommodation in more detail, then send an enquiry with your preferred dates and riding experience. Follow the operator’s directions when travelling to the farm, rather than relying on the postcode alone.
