Historic Country-House Stay near Hay-on-Wye

Set in 130 acres of countryside at Clyro, Baskerville Hall Hotel is a characterful country-house hotel just over a mile from Hay-on-Wye, with views across the Wye Valley and easy access to Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) and the Black Mountains.

The historic hall dates from the 19th century and offers a range of individually styled en-suite bedrooms, from comfortable standard and family rooms to more distinctive executive rooms. Its spacious interiors, oak-panelled rooms and extensive grounds give the hotel a personality very different from a conventional town-centre stay.

Guests can arrange use of the indoor heated swimming pool and sauna with reception, enjoy a drink in the bar or have an evening meal at the hotel. The grounds and communal spaces also welcome groups, celebrations and events. Well-behaved dogs are accepted in selected rooms by prior arrangement; mention your dog when booking, as a charge applies.

The location is one of its great strengths. Hay-on-Wye’s bookshops, galleries, cafés, markets and internationally known literary festival are close by, while the surrounding countryside opens up walking routes into the Black Mountains and adventures along the River Wye. Visitors keen to get on the water can also explore canoeing, kayaking and paddleboarding in Bannau Brycheiniog.

For a stay that combines the atmosphere of a historic Welsh country house with the culture of Hay-on-Wye and easy access to the outdoors, Baskerville Hall makes a distinctive base for exploring this north-eastern corner of the National Park.
