Welcome to Beacon Park Day Boats

Explore the canal at your own pace

Beacon Park Day Boats hires self-drive electric boats, cycle boats, canoes, rowing boats and paddleboards from Llangattock, near Crickhowell. It is a way to spend a few hours on the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal in Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park without staying overnight.

The six-seater electric day boat carries up to four adults and two small children, while the eight-seater carries up to six adults and two children under 16. Both have rain covers and space for one dog. A two-person cycle boat, a six-person ex-Thames launch and a four-person ex-steam launch offer other ways to explore; the two launches have no rain cover.

The all-electric cabin cruiser carries up to eight adults and two children under 16, plus two dogs. It has a toilet, cooker, kitchen equipment and cabin heating. This boat travels south towards Gilwern only, and its canvas cover must be lowered while cruising because of low bridges. Check the individual boat details before booking.

No previous boating experience is required, and tuition is given on the day. Life jackets are provided, including sizes for children and dogs. An adult must make the booking; children may drive under adult supervision. Discuss any access requirements with the team before choosing a boat.

Choose your boat or paddlecraft and check the current hire periods and availability online. The team can advise on routes and places to stop, and advance booking is recommended for busy periods.
