Welcome to Black Mountain Escapes

Below the Black Mountain near Llangadog, Black Mountain Escapes offers two separate self-catering stays for two. Gablebach and The Old Laundry, also known as Y Golchdy, share a rural setting in the western Bannau Brycheiniog but offer different ways to spend a few days in the hills. Both welcome dogs, with arrangements suited to the size of each property.

Gablebach is a restored farm worker’s cottage with a traditional kitchen and Aga, a wood-burning stove and a bedroom for two. Its patio provides space for outdoor meals, while a separate private bath house adds another place to unwind. It suits visitors looking for the feel of a cottage, with room to cook, read and settle in after a walk.

Y Golchdy is the smaller retreat, created from a former laundry room. A compact kitchen and wood burner make use of its intimate interior, while a covered veranda extends the living space outdoors. Its private covered hot tub and views towards the Black Mountain give this stay a distinct character of its own.

From either property, you can explore the lanes and countryside around Llangadog, plan a mountain walk or spend time in the area’s market towns. Evenings can be as simple as supper at your accommodation and watching the light change over the hills.
