Abercynafon Farm Barn
Abercynafon Farm Barn
Abercynafon Farm Barn is a restored 19th-century, Grade II listed stone building offering self-catering accommodation for up to 10 guests. About four miles from Talybont-on-Usk in Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park, it is a practical base for family gatherings, walking holidays and breaks with friends.
Four upstairs bedrooms have en-suite facilities, oak beams and views towards the reservoir and mountains. Two have mezzanine sleeping areas; ask the owners about the best room arrangements for your group. Downstairs, the large sitting room has comfortable sofas, a wood-burning stove, books, games and a Smart TV. There is underfloor heating throughout and Wi-fi.
The kitchen has a gas range-style cooker, dishwasher, microwave and tall fridge. The adjoining dining area seats up to 14, giving guests plenty of room for shared meals. A utility room with washing machine and freezer, a drying room for outdoor kit and additional separate toilets make longer stays easier.
Outside are private gardens, a patio, barbecue and trampoline. The owners live in the farmhouse next door, while the barn has its own access and garden. Micro-hydroelectric generation supplies electricity and a wood-pellet boiler provides heating.
There is parking and secure bicycle storage, with walking and cycling routes from the door and Talybont Reservoir and Blaen y Glyn waterfalls nearby. Follow the directions on the owner’s website when arriving: a postcode-only satnav route can lead to the wrong side of the reservoir.
Pets are welcome by prior arrangement. Contact the owners before booking if you would like to bring a dog, particularly around lambing time.
