Welcome to Gablebach at Black Mountain Escapes

Gablebach is a restored cottage for two near Llangadog, beneath the western Black Mountain in Bannau Brycheiniog. Once a farm worker’s home, it now offers a characterful self-catering stay with antique furniture, reclaimed pieces and places to settle in after a day exploring the Carmarthenshire countryside.

A double bedroom and en-suite shower room sit alongside an Aga kitchen and living space with a fire. The interiors retain the feel of a traditional Welsh cottage, with individual furnishings rather than a standard hotel-room layout. It is a place for two people to cook, read and spend time together at their own pace.

Doors lead to a patio for breakfast or an outdoor meal. The separate bath house is another distinctive part of the stay: a sheltered space framed by old stone walls and timber beams, where you can soak after a walk. This is an outdoor bath-house experience, distinct from the private hot tub at the neighbouring Y Golchdy retreat.

Dogs are welcome, with the owner currently accommodating up to two medium-sized dogs at Gablebach. Discuss larger dogs or any particular requirements before booking. The surrounding area offers country walks, viewpoints, local history and pubs; the owner’s local guides provide ideas for days out and dog-friendly stops.
