Welcome to The Star Bunkhouse

The Star Bunkhouse is a family-run place to stay in Bwlch, beside the Beacons Way in Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park. It sleeps up to twenty guests across six bedrooms, including an en-suite family room. Individuals, couples and small groups can book private rooms, while larger groups can hire the whole bunkhouse. You only share a bedroom with your own party.

The shared self-catering kitchen has cookers, fridges, a freezer and a dishwasher. There are large dining tables, a lounge with a wood-burning stove, a snug, books, maps and games. Bedding is provided; bring towels or arrange to hire them. Walkers and cyclists have a drying room, secure equipment storage, a bike wash and e-bike charging, with a small car park and one EV charging point. Outside there is covered seating and a barbecue area.

Emma and Pete Harrison both hold the Mountain Leader award and can arrange guided walks. The location gives access to the Black Mountains and central Beacons, with Llangorse Lake and Talybont Reservoir nearby. The New Inn is across the road; book ahead if you plan to eat there. The bunkhouse has been recognised in The Great Outdoors Awards, including Silver in 2018 and finalist places in 2021 and 2025.

Well-behaved dogs are welcome by prior arrangement. Children are welcome, but the building has several levels, steps and stairs and is not designed for babies or toddlers. Contact the owners before booking if anyone has access needs. This is a quiet base with close neighbours, and stag, hen and other noisy parties are not accepted.
