Welcome to Visit Brecon

Visit Brecon Tourist Information Centre is at 11A Lion Yard, just off Brecon’s main town-centre car park. Run by Brecon Town Council, the staffed centre is a practical first stop whether you have a few hours in town or are using Brecon as a base for exploring Bannau Brycheiniog. Staff and volunteers can help you find your bearings, choose a route and discover places that suit the time you have.

Inside, you can pick up OS maps, National Park leaflets and free local walking routes, alongside books on walks and Brecon’s history and postcards. The team’s local knowledge is useful for planning anything from a short circuit of the town to a day around the canal basin or a longer walk into the surrounding landscape. You can also browse Visit Brecon’s town map before setting off.

Brecon rewards a closer look on foot. Enquire about a guided town walk with Visit Brecon’s White Badge guides to explore the streets, buildings and stories behind the town. Its heritage includes the cathedral, military history and the people and trades that shaped Brecon. The centre can help groups arrange a visit as well as answer individual questions about attractions and activities nearby.

Visit Brecon’s online events calendar brings together things happening in and around town, so a walking day can also take in a performance, exhibition or community event. With maps, local advice and guided walks in one place, the centre helps visitors connect Brecon itself with the wider National Park.
