Welcome to Black Mountain Adventure

Outdoor activities with Black Mountain Adventure

Black Mountain Adventure is a family-run outdoor activity business based at Three Cocks, near Hay-on-Wye and Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park. Operating since 1992, it welcomes families, friends, schools and groups for adventures on land and water.

Activities include rock climbing and abseiling, caving, archery, clay pigeon shooting, high ropes and mountain biking. On the water, choose from guided canoe trips, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding and raft building. Canoe, kayak, paddleboard and mountain-bike hire are also available. White-water rafting is listed as a winter activity; check current dates and conditions.

Gorge adventures combine scrambling, climbing and moving through the river with an instructor. Each activity has its own age limits and requirements, so check the individual listing and discuss any access or support needs before booking.

The team offers family activity days, school and youth-group programmes, and team-building sessions for workplace groups. If you are planning a longer visit, ask about the programme and local accommodation options rather than assuming a stay is included.

A selection of activities can be booked online. For family days, larger groups or help choosing a session, telephone the team. Booking confirmation includes timings, clothing requirements and directions.
