Welcome to Jacob Sheep Trekking and Farm Experience Days
Farm animal experiences at Aberhyddnant
Meet the animals at Jacob Sheep Trekking and Farm Experience Days, a family-run business at Aberhyddnant Organic Farm near Crai in Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons). The family has offered sheep walks since 2014, with small-group experiences that give visitors time to learn about the animals and life on the farm.
On a sheep trek, meet the flock and walk with a specially trained sheep on a headcollar, stopping to feed, stroke and photograph your companion. The route crosses fields and streams and includes uphill, uneven ground, so bring wellies or sturdy walking footwear and suitable outdoor clothing.
Spring lambing experiences offer an introduction to this busy time on the farm, including opportunities to help feed orphan lambs. Activities vary with the season and the animals’ needs, so check the current programme before choosing your visit.
Other experiences include goat walking and agility, miniature pony activities, sheep cuddling and wool-craft workshops. Bespoke visits can be arranged for celebrations, groups and team-building days.
Visits must be booked in advance: this is a working farm, not an open farm for drop-in visits. Children need an accompanying adult; check the chosen experience’s ticket and age requirements. Discuss access needs directly before booking, and please do not bring your own dog on a sheep trek.
You can also stay on the farm in self-catering cottages or glamping domes. The farm’s website links to its accommodation options and shows the available animal experiences and booking dates.
