Welcome to The Angel Hotel, Oak Room Restaurant and Foxhunter Bar

The Oak Room Restaurant and Foxhunter Bar are at The Angel Hotel on Cross Street in central Abergavenny. This former coaching inn offers two different settings for lunch, dinner or a drink, with the town’s shops, market and castle nearby. The four-star hotel also has rooms and suites for visitors who want to stay overnight.

The Oak Room is a two-AA-Rosette restaurant with contemporary artwork and seasonal menus. Lunch and dinner are served daily, with a children’s menu also available. Check the current menu before visiting and tell the team about allergies or dietary requirements when booking.

The Foxhunter Bar has wood panelling, leather sofas, wooden tables and seating on two levels. It serves food alongside local ales, wines and cocktails in a more relaxed setting. Dogs are welcome in the bar and courtyard, but not in the Oak Room or other dining rooms. In suitable weather, the planted courtyard offers outdoor dining; tables there are not reserved.

The Angel’s High Tea brings together freshly baked scones, cakes, sandwiches and savouries with a choice of teas. Its awards include the Tea Guild’s Top City and Country Afternoon Tea Award and Award of Excellence. Check the dedicated High Tea page for current serving days and reservations; it is not a daily service.

For a longer visit, the hotel and its Mews rooms provide an overnight base for exploring Abergavenny and Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons). The Angel is part of House of Caradog, alongside The Angel Bakery and the Michelin-starred Walnut Tree. Contact reception to discuss parking or access needs: there are steps at the entrance, with a temporary ramp available by arrangement.
