Hidden within its own private woodland near the village of Llanddeusant, Coed Yr Henbont Cabin offers the opportunity to step away from busy lives and experience one of the quieter corners of Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park.

Henbont is a working Welsh hill farm that has been cared for by the same family for five generations. Purchased from the Ashburnham Estate in 1892, the farm has remained in the family’s ownership for more than 130 years. The name Henbont, meaning Old Bridge in Welsh, reflects the long history of this place and the generations who continue to care for the land today.

Set within Coed Yr Henbont, an ancient woodland of oak, beech, ash and larch, the cabin has been built using timber from the woodland itself. Welsh Mountain sheep continue to graze the surrounding hills, maintaining a farming tradition that has shaped this landscape for centuries. Staying here offers the opportunity to experience a living Welsh hill farm where woodland, wildlife and farming exist side by side.

Sleeping up to four guests, the accommodation is arranged across two connected cabins. The Hearth Cabin provides a welcoming living space with an off-grid kitchen, wood-burning stove and comfortable seating, while the second cabin contains two bedrooms and a private bathroom. Powered by solar energy and supplied with fresh mains water, Coed Yr Henbont Cabin combines off-grid living with the practical comforts needed for a countryside stay.

The private woodland is yours to enjoy throughout your visit. Wander beneath mature trees, relax in the wood-fired hot tub, gather around the firepit as evening falls or simply sit quietly while red kites soar overhead and woodland birds provide the soundtrack to the day. Deer, hares, rabbits, owls and squirrels are all part of life here, making the woodland itself part of the experience.

Henbont is well placed for exploring western Bannau Brycheiniog. Discover Llyn y Fan Fach, walk around Usk Reservoir, climb Fan Brycheiniog or explore the wider Black Mountain landscape. Nearby Llandovery offers independent shops, cafés, traditional pubs and local history, while Brecon and Llandeilo make good day trips for exploring more of Mid and West Wales.

As daylight fades, another side of Henbont comes to life.
