Welcome to Brecon Cathedral

Brecon Cathedral is a place of worship, music and local history a short walk from Brecon town centre. Founded in 1093 as a Benedictine priory, it is now the cathedral of the Diocese of Swansea and Brecon.

Explore the stone arches, stained-glass windows and historic monuments, or take time for quiet reflection. The cathedral has regular worship alongside concerts and other events; check its current programme before visiting, and contact the team about tours or group visits.

Pilgrim’s Café is in the Cathedral Close, with refreshments available before or after a visit. Check the cathedral’s visitor page for current café and cathedral opening times. Dogs are welcome at the cathedral.

The North Door, approached through the graveyard, has steps. The South West door inside the Close has a lift, and the cathedral reports no further steps in its usual visitor areas. Contact the team before travelling if you need help with access.

There is a pay-and-display car park beside the cathedral, with disabled parking and two coach spaces. Toilets are inside the South West entrance and in the café.

A visit can be combined with Brecon’s independent shops, museums and riverside walks. For services, events and visitor enquiries, use the official website or contact the cathedral office; the published telephone number is a voicemail service.
