Welcome to Hay Castle – Events, Weddings and Venue Hire

Events at Hay Castle bring people together in the centre of Hay-on-Wye, from an evening of live music to a wedding or a gathering organised around your own plans. The historic building and its grounds are used for public events as well as private hire, giving you several ways to experience the castle beyond a daytime visit.

The public programme includes talks, films, performances and creative workshops. Exhibitions and events change throughout the year, so a return visit can offer something different. The Clore Learning Space also accommodates classes and community activities, adding a local dimension to the castle’s cultural programme.

For weddings, the choice ranges from a ceremony to a full day with exclusive use of the castle and grounds. A lawn reception offers another way to use the setting. These arrangements are planned with the castle team, rather than being a single fixed package; the spaces, catering and flow of the day can be discussed around the occasion.

Private celebrations include birthdays, anniversaries and reunions. Meetings, presentations and business away days can also be accommodated, with audiovisual facilities and catering available for corporate events. The events team can help match a room or space to the gathering and discuss local suppliers where needed.

Hay Castle’s location makes the town part of the experience, whether guests arrive for an evening or make a longer visit to Hay-on-Wye. Entry is from Oxford Road, close to the public car park. Discuss access requirements and the particular rooms being used when planning a private event. The café, castle visits and tours are separate parts of the wider Hay Castle offer.
