Welcome to The Mid Wales Rhythm and Blues Club
The Mid Wales Rhythm and Blues Club brings live blues, roots and rhythm and blues to Brecon. Founded in 2014, it has made The Muse its main home since 2017. The venue’s intimate setting puts performers and audiences close together, whether you are a long-time blues listener or have come across a band while planning a visit to town.
The programme pairs touring artists from Wales, elsewhere in the UK and overseas with Welsh and local support acts. Guitar-led blues, Americana and other roots sounds all have a place on the bill. The club has hosted performers including Kaz Hawkins, Dom Martin and Dave Arcari, while continuing to give musicians from the area a stage. It is an opportunity to hear established names and discover an act you may not have seen before.
The Muse is central to the club, but not every event takes place there. Selected concerts are held at other Brecon venues, including The Brecon Tap and Kensington Baptist Church. That variety is part of the appeal: one visit might take you to The Muse, another to a gig in a Brecon pub. The club’s live events calendar gives the venue, time and ticket arrangements for each show, as these details change from date to date.
A gig also makes a good reason to spend time in Brecon itself. Explore the town’s streets, find somewhere to eat before the music, or make a longer visit that includes the canal and surrounding Bannau Brycheiniog. The club connects Brecon’s evening life with a wider programme of culture and music across the destination.
