Welcome to The Bear, Crickhowell – Stay, Eat and Drink
The Bear is a family-run former coaching inn on Crickhowell’s High Street, in Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park. With thirty-five rooms, a restaurant, historic bar and garden, it brings a place to stay and places to eat and drink together in the town centre. Explore the two profiles below to plan your visit.
Accommodation ranges from characterful rooms in the old inn to more modern courtyard and garden rooms. Most options sleep two, with a Better Twin option for up to four. Some rooms have spa baths or four-poster beds. Ask about bed layouts, children, step-free access and dog-friendly rooms before booking; dogs are not accepted in the unique feature and four-poster rooms.
The kitchen serves pub favourites and modern British dishes with international influences, using Welsh and local produce where possible. The bar offers local and regional ales, cider, wines and soft drinks, with oak beams and open fires inside and garden seating when the weather allows. Well-behaved dogs are welcome in the bar.
Book rooms through the hotel’s live availability and telephone to reserve a restaurant table; one booking does not automatically include the other. Check current menus and serving times, and discuss dietary or access needs with the team. Wi-Fi and on-site parking are available, with shops and walking routes nearby in Crickhowell.
