Welcome to The Showcaves at Dan-yr-Ogof

Three caves, three different underground stories

The Showcaves at Dan-yr-Ogof take visitors through three contrasting underground experiences: Dan-yr-Ogof, Cathedral Cave and Bone Cave.

The River Llynfell emerges beside the entrance to Dan-yr-Ogof after travelling underground for more than 6km. Tommy and Jeff Morgan first entered the cave here in 1912, using candles, ropes and a coracle. Today’s visitor route passes named formations including the Rasher of Bacon, the Angel and the Alabaster Pillar.

Cathedral Cave opens into enormous chambers shaped over millions of years. The route finishes in the Dome of St Paul’s, where waterfalls drop 40 feet into the underground lakes.

Bone Cave tells a different story. Exhibits explore how people and animals used the caves in the past, including the discovery of 42 human skeletons.

The three showcaves are part of Dan-yr-Ogof, National Showcaves Centre for Wales, and are included in the main admission ticket. Check the official website for current opening dates, accessibility information and what to wear before travelling.
