Black Mountains Preserves
Black Mountains Preserves
A Taste of the Black Mountains, Made in Talgarth
Black Mountains Preserves is an award-winning artisan producer based in Talgarth, where Helen Dunne creates small batches of jams, marmalades, chutneys and relishes inspired by the flavours and landscapes of the Black Mountains and Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons).
Each jar is made using traditional open-pan methods and carefully chosen ingredients, with the emphasis on bold, natural flavour rather than unnecessary additives. The range is vegan-friendly and includes everything from fruit-rich jams and marmalades to savoury chutneys and relishes designed for cheeseboards, picnics and Welsh food gifts.
The preserves have collected awards from Great Taste, the World Marmalade Awards and other national and international food competitions, but what gives the business its real sense of place is the connection to Talgarth and the surrounding Black Mountains. Local ingredients are used where possible, and many of the flavours draw directly on Welsh produce and food traditions.
Visitors can buy online, arrange local click-and-collect, or look out for Black Mountains Preserves at local stockists and markets. A visit to Talgarth also makes it easy to combine local food shopping with a wander around the town, the working watermill and the surrounding countryside.
For anyone looking to take home a genuine taste of this part of Wales, Black Mountains Preserves offers something made here, by hand, with a clear connection to the landscape that inspired it.
