Welcoming walkers, cyclists, families and small groups, The Star Bunkhouse in Bwlch offers a friendly and flexible stay right in the heart of Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park.

Award-winning and family-run, The Star is known for its relaxed, well-equipped and unfussy comfort. With space for up to 20 guests across six bedrooms (including a cosy en-suite family room), it’s perfect whether you’re adventuring solo, heading out as a couple or planning a group gathering. Rooms are available individually or the whole place can be hired exclusively. Dogs are welcome by prior arrangement too.

There’s everything you’d want from a good basecamp: a toasty wood-burning stove, plenty of hot showers, comfy lounge with books, maps and games, free WiFi, well-equipped kitchen, secure bike storage and even a drying room with a washing machine. Step outside and you’ll find covered seating and a BBQ area – ideal for stargazing after a long day on the hills.

Located right on the Beacons Way footpath, Bwlch sits between the Black Mountains and the central Beacons – with Pen y Fan, Mynydd Llangorse, Talybont Reservoir and Llangorse Lake all within easy reach. There’s a CAMRA pub just across the road, and the bunkhouse’s owners, Emma and Pete, are qualified Mountain Leaders – guided walks can be arranged for group bookings.
