Black Mountains Smokery

Nestled in Crickhowell within the heart of Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park, Black Mountains Smokery is a family-run artisan smokehouse renowned for its award-winning smoked foods. Established in 1996 by Jo and Jonathan Carthew, the smokery specialises in traditionally cured and oak-smoked products, sourcing ingredients from trusted British suppliers.

Their diverse selection includes hot and cold smoked salmon, trout, mackerel, haddock, and sea bass, as well as smoked chicken and duck breasts, bacon, ham, and cheeses. Each product is crafted with meticulous attention to quality and flavour, embodying the rich culinary heritage of the region.

The on-site shop, open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm, offers not only their signature smoked delicacies but also a curated range of accompaniments from like-minded Welsh artisan producers. Visitors can seek personalised serving suggestions and find the perfect gourmet gifts.

For those unable to visit in person, Black Mountains Smokery provides an online ordering service, delivering gourmet food gifts and luxury hampers across the UK. With no minimum order requirement and free postage on hampers or orders over £150, it’s convenient to enjoy or share a taste of Wales.
