Brecon Choir Festival
The Brecon Choir Festival is an annual four-day event held in Brecon, Wales, celebrating the rich tradition of choral music. The theme for our 2026 festival is George Herbert: In Every Corner Sing.
What to expect in 2026
We continue our exploration of figures from the Welsh literary imagination with the Powys-born George Herbert, widely regarded as the greatest devotional poet in the English language.
Special guests include The Gesualdo Six, The Lyons Mouth, Continuum, Cappella Lacensis (Germany), the Monks of Maria Laach Abbey, Côr Llundain, Dr Rowan Williams as well as hometown favourites Brecon Cathedral Choir, Brecon Singers and Aberhonddu & District Male Choir.

Young Singer Award
The four shortlisted candidates for this years Young Singer Award are Roshan Din, Isla Lloyd, Erin Morgan and Dylan Pymble – they will be competing to become the 2026 Brecon Choir Festival Young Singer on 7th March at 4pm in Kensington Baptist Church.
The winner of the competition will have the opportunity of performing as the solo artist at the Festival’s Friday night concert with Côr Llundain and Aberhonddu & District Male Voice Choir at Theatr Brycheiniog on Friday, 17th July 2026. The winning prize is £300 prize with £100 prizes for the 3 runners up.
The candidates will be singing 3 pieces each in front of our two adjudicators and to a small audience.
What is the festival about?
Established in 2022, the Brecon Choir Festival brings together the rich Welsh choral tradition with emerging talent from across the UK and beyond. Set in Bannau Brycheiniog National Park, it features concerts, workshops, street singing, talks and Afterglows—lively sessions where voices rise into the night. From Brecon Cathedral to ancient chapels, the festival makes the most of its remarkable venues. Run by passionate volunteers, it’s open to all who love singing or simply want to experience its joy.

Come & Sing: A German Requiem by Brahms
Singers from all over the UK and beyond are invited to join Brecon Singers for their final day rehearsing at Christ College ahead of their concert in Brecon Cathedral on 16 July.
You will be asked to buy a ticket specific to your voice part and will be offered the chance to perform as part of the joint Brecon Singers and BCF Festival Chorus concert at Brecon Cathedral the following Thursday evening.
