Penpont is a unique and much-loved family-run estate on the banks of the River Usk, nestled in the heart of Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park. With deep roots in the local landscape, this historic estate invites guests to slow down, reconnect with nature and enjoy a simpler, more grounded way of life.

Stay in the Courtyard Wing
The 17th-century Courtyard Wing offers warm, characterful accommodation for up to 14 guests across six bedrooms. It’s an ideal setting for families or friends to gather – with an open-plan kitchen and dining space opening onto a rustic courtyard shaded by a mature Catalpa tree. With wildflower meadows, lawns, a Greenman maze, and acres of private grounds beyond, it’s a tranquil base for exploring the wider National Park.

Camp Beside the River
Penpont’s riverside and rose garden campsite offers informal, relaxed camping with no marked pitches – just pick your spot under the trees or alongside the river. Hot showers, loos and fire pits create a simple and sociable camping experience, just a short distance from Pen y Fan, Mynydd Illtyd and Fan Frynych.

Explore the Gardens and Estate
Penpont’s walled gardens have produced organic vegetables and flowers for over 25 years, with produce available through the on-site farm shop. The wider estate is home to Cwmsefin – a regenerative farm producing pasture-fed meat, honey, preserves and juices.

The Penpont Project, launched in 2019 with Action for Conservation, brings together young people and landowners to restore biodiversity and explore sustainable farming and forestry. It’s a living example of nature recovery in action, where guests can walk ancient woodlands and discover a vibrant working landscape shaped by people and place.
