Hengwrt Heritage and Community Centre
Located in the heart of Llandeilo, Hengwrt has a storied past, having served as a corn exchange, magistrates’ court, and police headquarters. In 2021, it was revitalized into a vibrant heritage and community centre. Managed by Menter Dinefwr, Hengwrt now offers a heritage exhibition, community shop, and meeting spaces. Visitors can delve into Llandeilo’s rich history through interactive displays and local artifacts, making it a cultural hub for both residents and tourist
St Teilo's Church
St Teilo’s Church stands on a site where Christian worship has been conducted for nearly fifteen centuries, dating back to the mission of St Teilo in the 6th century. The current structure, completed in 1850, retains it’s late medieval tower. Notably, the church once housed the Llandeilo Fawr Gospels, an 8th-century illuminated manuscript of significant spiritual and artistic value. Today, visitors can explore the church’s rich history and view digital representations of the Gospel.
Carreg Cennen Castle
A short drive from Llandeilo, Carreg Cennen Castle is renowned for it’s dramatic clifftop location. The castle ruins provide a glimpse into medieval Wales, and the on-site tearoom offers a cosy spot to relax after exploring. Although now a lot more modern, this image is of 1959 in Llandeilo, Llandeilo railway station, situated on the Heart of Wales Line, connects rural communities between Swansea and Shrewsbury. This active station provides access to Carmarthenshire’s scenic walking trails, attracting enthusiasts seeking picturesque views and challenging terrains.
