Walking along this former tramway which links Penderyn and Hirwaun, can you spot birds and wildlife alongside any remains of the route’s industrial origins?

Craig-y-Nos Country Park Walk

Circular – 2.2km – 1.30 hours


A short but varied walk leads through the pretty Country Park – the former pleasure gardens of Craig-y-Nos castle, past lakes and ponds.

Llanddeusant to Carreg Cennen Castle (Beacons Way – day 7)

One way – 20.5km – 6 hours


Llanddeusant to Carreg Cennen Castle (Beacons Way – day 7) This day passes through areas of wild, open and, in places, pathless country, only attempt this in good conditions unless you are skilled and experienced at navigation.

Circular – 2.6km – 1 hours


Along the Govilon Line – walk between two canal side villages along the route of the old railway line.

Storey Arms to Craig-y-Nos (Beacons Way -Day 5)

One way – 14.5km – 6 hours


Storey Arms to Craig-y-Nos (Beacons Way – day 5) Your journey to the West of the Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) begins today.

Craig-y-Nos to Llanddeusant (Beacons Way – day 6)

One way – 16km – 5 hours


Craig-y-Nos to Llanddeusant (Beacons Way – day 6) Day six starts from Craig y nos Country Park, once owned by the opera singer Dame Adelina Patti. The route takes you to Llyn y Fan Fawr, the highest natural lake in south Wales. Chose between the good or poor weather routes based on the forecast for the day.

Penwyllt Circuit

Circular – 2.8km – 1.45 hours


Penwyllt Circuit – extensive views in the less visited South West of the Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) Park, you look down the Upper Swansea Valley and beyond as you follow old railway lines and tramroads.
