Proud to be an International Dark Sky Reserve.
On a clear night in the Brecon Beacons, you can see the Milky Way, major constellations, bright nebulas and even meteor showers. It’s enough to make anyone starry eyed. In 2012 we became just the fifth destination in the world (and the first in Wales) to become an accredited International Dark Sky Reserve. That means we have some of the highest quality dark skies in the whole of the UK, making it the perfect destination for stargazers to stay.

Welsh Dark Sky Week 13th – 22nd February2026
Welsh Dark Skies Week returns for its fifth year, bringing together Wales’ National Parks and Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty to celebrate our dark skies.
Join us for a week of events, shining a light on the impacts of light pollution and the inspiring projects working to protect our landscapes, wildlife, and wellbeing. Experience the darkness on one of our walks, learn the basis of astrophotography during a workshop or marvel at the planets and constellations in one of our Planetarium sessions.
