Cwmffrwd Farm – The Hayloft

Self-catering accommodation on a nature-focused farm in the Black Mountains

Set within 22 acres of wildflower meadows on the slopes of the Black Mountains, The Hayloft at Cwmffrwd Farm offers characterful self-catering accommodation in Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park.

This restored 17th-century Welsh crog loft sleeps up to six guests, combining rustic stone walls and high-beamed ceilings with the practical comforts needed for a relaxed countryside stay. Its open-plan living space includes a lounge with a fire, dining area and galley-style kitchen, while the sleeping accommodation is arranged across a mezzanine double bedroom and a spacious second bedroom.

The bathroom has a roll-top bath and large walk-in shower. Bedding and towels are provided, and the kitchen includes an electric oven, fridge, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine. Guests also have Wi-Fi, private parking and their own outdoor patio with a barbecue and picnic bench.

Step from the farm into the hills

Cwmffrwd Farm lies between Cwmdu and Pen-gennffordd, with direct access to the surrounding Black Mountains and views across the Rhiangoll Valley. Walks can begin from the farm, while Crickhowell, Hay-on-Wye, Brecon and Abergavenny are all within reach for days exploring independent shops, local food, heritage and culture.

Hosts Pridie and James can help guests discover local walks and activities. Dogs are welcome at no additional charge but must be kept on leads around the farm and meadows and must not be left unattended in the property.

During the main camping season from May to September, Cwmffrwd’s meadows also welcome tents, small campervans and guests staying in bell tents. The farm hosts Wild of the Words events and nature-based experiences throughout the year, allowing visitors to combine their stay with seasonal gatherings, workshops and storytelling where dates coincide.
