Included within your ticket to the National Showcaves Centre for Wales is access to a wide range of attractions beyond the incredible cave systems – including the Shire Horse Centre and the Iron Age Village, both offering an immersive look at life from the past.

Down on the farm, you’ll meet the gentle giants – the magnificent Shire horses. These heavy horses were once essential to industry, agriculture, and warfare. Towering and powerful, they carried knights into battle and provided the ‘horse power’ behind industrial growth. Today, they are a treasured breed and visitors of all ages can enjoy seeing them up close and learning more about their important role in our shared history.

A short stroll away, the Iron Age Village has been carefully reconstructed using traditional materials such as tree trunks, straw, bracken, and turf – offering a glimpse into life in 700BC. See how grain was stored, learn how beer was brewed from barley, and look out for the animals villagers would have kept nearby for protection.
