Welcome to Cambrian Escapes, Glan-yr-Afon
Luxury Riverside Cottage in the Brecon Beacons
Glan-yr-Afon is a beautifully quirky 18th-century former woollen mill, now a spacious and luxurious dog-friendly cottage on the western edge of Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park. Nestled on a peaceful, nature-friendly farm at the foot of the Cambrian Mountains, it’s just six miles from the glacier lakes of Llyn y Fan Fach and Llyn y Fan Fawr, and an easy drive to Pen y Fan and Waterfall Country.
This characterful retreat offers guests a truly unique experience, with a crystal-clear mountain stream running through the garden – ideal for a refreshing plunge if you’re feeling brave. The garden also features a wood-fired hot tub beneath an ancient oak tree and a firepit, perfect for stargazing under the park’s celebrated dark skies.
Inside, you’ll find two luxurious bathrooms, a clawfoot bath with a wine shelf, and a downstairs garden bedroom that can be made up as a twin or a double. Original features such as low doorways and crooked walls add to the charm, while modern comforts ensure a relaxing stay.
Glan-yr-Afon is a haven for wildlife lovers, walkers, and anyone looking to escape into nature – just be ready to share your stay with dippers, kingfishers and the occasional hedgehog.
