Welcome to Cambrian Escapes, New York
A Romantic Barn Retreat in the Brecon Beacons
Tucked away on a nature-friendly farm beneath the Cambrian Mountains, New York is a charming and luxurious cottage for two on the western edge of Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park. Just six miles from the legendary glacier lakes Llyn y Fan Fach and Llyn y Fan Fawr, and around 45 minutes from Pen y Fan and Waterfall Country, this is a perfect base for walkers, dreamers and nature lovers alike.
This unique barn, the oldest in a courtyard of beautifully converted 19th-century stone buildings, was once the granary or coach house. Now a stylish and quirky retreat, it features an open-plan layout with a handcrafted kitchen, beech worktops, log burner, and a spacious mezzanine bedroom with stunning dual-aspect views.
Original stained-glass windows, exposed A-frame beams, vintage fabrics and wooden floors add character throughout, while the luxurious bathroom with a slipper bath and wine shelf ensures plenty of relaxation. Outside, enjoy a peaceful veranda with mountain views and dark skies perfect for stargazing.
Named after a long-lost cottage once perched above the land, New York is full of history, warmth and personality – a special hideaway where you can switch off, unwind, and reconnect with the wild beauty of the Brecon Beacons.
