Welcome to Friends of the Brecon Beacons / Cyfeillon Bannau Brycheiniog

Supporting the National Park

Friends of the Brecon Beacons is a voluntary organisation dedicated to the enhancement, protection and conservation of Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park, working to ensure this special landscape can be enjoyed by all, now and in the future.

The Society runs a popular year-round Guided Walks Programme, open to both members and non-members. These walks explore different areas of the National Park and are led by experienced volunteers. Walks must be booked online, and non-members are asked to contribute a £5 donation.

Friends of the Brecon Beacons also hosts a regular series of public talks at the Bear Hotel in Crickhowell, covering topics of local interest, conservation, and the wider natural environment.

The Society actively supports the work of the Brecon Beacons National Park Authority, particularly in relation to countryside access, planning, and Rights of Way. Members help monitor paths and report issues that may affect public access.

As a key partner of the Fforest Fawr UNESCO Global Geopark, the Society also contributes to the Geopark’s annual festival and other educational initiatives, helping to promote the western area of the National Park, from Llandovery to Brecon, and beyond.
