Welcome to Tara Bed and Breakfast

Warm Hospitality and Home-Cooked Food in the Black Mountains

Set at the foot of the Black Mountains in the peaceful village of Felindre, Tara is a welcoming 4-star bed and breakfast, perfectly positioned between Hay-on-Wye and Talgarth. Just a short distance from Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park, it’s a relaxed and comfortable base for exploring the surrounding hills, valleys and rivers.

Run by Dorcas and David, Tara offers a friendly, homely stay with three en-suite rooms – two doubles and one twin – as well as shared spaces including a spacious dining room and large conservatory. Outside, guests can enjoy the two-acre garden and outdoor swimming pool, with lovely views across the Wye Valley.

Food is a highlight here. Dorcas, a Cordon Bleu cook and founder of Beeton for Time, prepares breakfast and optional evening meals using local produce and seasonal fruit and veg from the garden.

Tara is ideal for those looking to enjoy walking, horse riding, cycling, or canoeing – and is the nearest B&B to Tregoyd Mountain Riders. It’s also located on National Cycle Route 8, with secure storage, fishing access on the River Usk, and even a paddock for guests travelling with horses. Guided walks and tours can be arranged through Scenery Explained Wales.
